We were asked by local residents to assist in formulating a strategy to object to the new proposed housing development at the former haulage yard that is now a small industrial park. We drafted an objection letter that was sent to the planning officer and advised residents to each send their own objection letter too. We attended a residents meeting in the Bakers Arms on Sunday 16 November and advise on how their 3 min verbal objection should be phrased for the planning committee meeting next week. We hope we have been of some assistance to resident and await the outcome with interest.
Wara members attended the council planning sub-commitee meeting last night and were happy to see the local residents win the day on the former haulage yard at Sewardstone Hall at Waltham Abbey.
I suspect developers will try again as the victory was very close with a narrow 5:4 vote against the outline application for 72 dwelling on the site. However, it is nice to see residents who take the trouble to object to a development that they do not like or want are listened to by our local council and in turn they take heed of their opinions.
