WARA held a public meeting on 15th June 2015 at Town Mead Leisure complex to find out local residents reaction to new proposals for the Knollys Nursery site at Pick Hill Waltham Abbey. The meeting was well attended with over 120 residents who came to voice their concerns over the fresh set of proposals. These include a reduction of the houses submitted and rejected in 2012 and again in 2013 mainly because the site is located within Green Belt. The new scheme proposes 79 new 2/3/4 bed homes 80% of which are classified as affordable plus the construction of a new childrens nursery for the Sunshine Day Nursery that currently resides at King Harold School. The nursery, we understand has been asked to seek new accomadation because king Harold want to develop a new 6th form for the over 16’s that currently have to transfer to schools out of area to complete their education. The meeting was very lively with lots of participation from reidents and fresh new objections came to the forefront. Wara agreed to write an objection letter on behalf of residents but encouraged residents to write to the council expressing their views on the matter as well.
